Thanjavur or Tanjore is the city of Chola rulers and bears their stamp in a variety of Temples finely etched and cut. The Brihadesvara Temple worked by Raja Chola is said to have been the tallest landmark in antiquated India, rising stature of 92 meters in pyramidal structure. Close to the internal sanctum of Brihadesvara is a huge, five meters in length dark stone model of Nandi, the bull of Lord Shiva. At Thanjavur one can likewise visit the Subramanya Temple.
