Mandya is the amazing place situated in the Karnataka state of India. This beautiful city is well-known for many things such as butter, sugarcane, raagi mudde (ragi balls) and many more. Along with this, the Mandya also has several tourist attractions to explore. This city is renowned for being one of the massive sugarcane manufacturing city in India. There are four main rivers passing through Mandya districts such as Shimsha, Kaveri, Lokapavani and Hemavati. The Mandya is also known as the ‘Sakkara Nadu’ which signifies ‘The Sweet Place’. This amazing city attracts the massive number of tourists from across the world.

Shivanasamudra Falls:

Shivanasamudra Falls is one of the best places to explore in Mandya. This waterfall lies over the Kaveri River, in the Malavalli Taluka of the Mandya District. It has twin falls, named as the Barachukki Falls and the Gaganchukki Falls. Asia’s first Hydroelectric Power Project was constructed here in the year of 1901. This beautiful waterfall falls down from a peak of 75 m. This waterfall is surrounded by the dense forest which is included by tiger, elephant, bear, peacock and different creatures.

Melkote Temple Wildlife Sanctuary:

Melkote temple wildlife sanctuary is another perfect place to explore in Mandya, Karnataka. This wildlife sanctuary is spread over the 49.82 sq km of land area. On 17th June 1974, this wildlife sanctuary was proclaimed as sanctuary especially to protect the habitat of Grey Wolf. Melkote wildlife sanctuary includes the two zones such as Narayandurga which is spread in 45.34 sq km of land area and Mudibetta, which is spread 4.48 sq km of land area. This wildlife sanctuary got its name from the Melkote temple which is located on the edge of the sanctuary.

Tannur Lake:

Tannur Lake an amazing tourist attraction to visit in Mandya. Another name of the Tannur lake is the Moti Talab. This beautiful lake is nestled in the Pandavapura Taluka on a hill. It is believed by the people that the lake was made amid the twelfth century by the Hoysala Kings. The lake was named as the Moti Talab in 1746 by Nasir Jung, child of the then Subedar of Deccan.

Krishna Raja Sagara Dam:

Krishna Raja Sagara Dam was established in the year of 1924 over the Kaveri river. This dam is utilized as the major water source for irrigation in the Mandya and Mysore. Along with this, the dam is also utilized as the primary source of drinking water for all entire Mysore city or even in the entire Bangalore. This dam is named after the Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV, then ruler of Mysore Kingdom.

Hemagiri:

Hemagiri falls an enchanting place to explore in Mandya, Karnataka. The Hemagiri falls are located at a 15min drive from the Krishnarajpet city. This is a small water reservoir which caters as irrigation dam form a small waterfall on the banks of Hemavati River. Hemagiri waterfalls is enclosed by the lush green vegetation and exquisite hills. This is the amazing place for tourist to explore.

Kokkare Bellur:

Kokkare Bellur is a bird sanctuary which is well-known for various birds. This bird sanctuary nestled 12 km away from Maddur. The bird sanctuary is home for a few beautiful winged creatures, including the dim pelican that comes here from Australia. Other beautiful and amazing winged creatures that can be found in this bird sanctuary are the painted storks and spot charged pelicans that construct their homes on peepal, Portia swarm and tamarind trees.

Tipu’s Palace:

Tipu’s Palace is also a perfect place to visit in Mandya. Another name of Tipu’s Place is Lal Mahal, is located in Srirangapatna close to the Sri Ranganathaswamy sanctuary. This story two-story amazing royal residence was established in the year of 1791 and was utilized by Tipu Sultan as his late spring retreat. After the passing of Tipu Sultan, the British utilized this royal residence as a secretariat till 1867.

Gumbaz Fort:

Gumbaz Fort is a beautiful fort in Mandya. This fort is also known as the Tipu’s Fort, is nestled at Srirangapatna taluka. The fortification has the Juma Mosque and the Ranganathaswamy sanctuary inside its complex. It is for the most amazing part of the tombs of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan, built-in Indo-Islamic structural style.
