Ranikhet History
Lost into obscurity for long, the beautiful slope station was rediscovered by the Britishers. In 1869, the British set up the base camp of the Kumaon Regiment here and utilized the station as a retreat from the warmth of the Indian summer. Ranikhet is a cantonment town and is the home for the Kumaon Regimental Center & Naga Regiment and is kept up by the Indian Army. The primary city of Ranikhet is genuinely swarmed yet the military territory offers tranquil environment.
