Sometimes we all need a short break from our daily routine, a little adventure to refresh ourselves. It was exactly what I was looking for when I planned my weekend trip to Uttarakhand.
I visited Bhimtal and Nainital, two popular tourist destinations in the state that offer a great mix of adventure, beautiful views, and spiritual experiences. Exactly what I wished for: spending some peaceful time away from chaotic life.
From the excitement of paragliding over the mountains to the serene atmosphere of Kainchi Dham temple and the beautiful views of Nainital lake, every part of this trip remains memorable, filled with different experiences.

Beginning of Trip in Kumaon Hills of Uttarakhand
Both Nainital and Bhimtal are situated in the Kumaon Himalayas of Uttarakhand, famous for their spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and fresh mountain air.
As I moved towards the hills, the scenery changed, and when I reached Bhimtal, it made me feel that this trip could be different.
Bhimtal is praised for its beautiful surroundings and relaxed atmosphere. It offers a quiet place to spend time with nature and yourself. After some leisure time in our hotel room, I was preparing myself for the most exciting activity, which was paragliding.
My First Paragliding Experience in Bhimtal: Flying over Mountains
I was super excited but a little nervous too because watching Paragliding videos on social media is good, but experiencing it in person is completely different.
Firstly, I listened to the instructor’s briefing carefully and followed it to get ready. After fixing my harness and completing the necessary safety checks, I took off, and the open sky gave me a feeling of fearlessness and freedom that cannot be defined by words.
The views of the Kumaon hills looked beautiful from above. It reminded me that sometimes, for unique travel memories and to try something new, you must step out of your comfort zone.
This same thing also applies to your life. To achieve something big, step out of your comfort zone first.
I obviously did not know how to do paragliding, so I booked a tandem paragliding with Manchala Mushafir, in which a professional pilot controls the glide and you just get to enjoy the views without any prior experience.
After landing, I was stunned that I actually did it, and that moment was so full of happiness, relief, and pride.
A Peaceful Visit To Kainchi Dham
After the adventure activity, I wanted to give a spiritual touch to my trip, and a visit to Kainchi Dham is a great way to do it, so I combined my paragliding package with a visit to Kainchi Dham, which is also known as the Neem Karoli Baba Ashram.
Located in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, surrounded by the Kumaon Hills, Kainchi Dham is a popular spiritual hub famous for its Ashram and ancient Hanuman Temple associated with Saint Neem Karoli Baba.
This attracts devotees and many global leaders from around the world. For many, it is an opportunity to pray and experience a calm atmosphere.
The surrounding hills and the peaceful environment around the temple made the visit so special. It offers a great opportunity for meditation and allows people to pause for a while and focus on their inner peace.
You know what the most appreciated thing about the trip was: the contrast of two different experiences; paragliding in Bhimtal gave me joy and a sense of adventure, while a visit to Kainchi Dham temple allowed me to slow down, meditate, and reflect.
The most important thing I want to tell you. If you plan to visit Kainchi Dham, it is better to check
local weather & road conditions and make arrangements in advance because during the peak season, this area gets very crowded. I would suggest booking a package with a trusted operator for a comfortable trip like mine.
Nainital Exploration: Charm of Mountains & Lakes
Nainital is the heart of the Kumaon region. A trip to this area is incomplete without exploring it. This town is very famous for its beautiful Naini Lake, surrounded by hills and valleys holding its own charm.
I soaked in the views and took a boat ride on the beautiful lake. Then, in the evening, I explored Mall Road. I tried some local snacks and tea and experienced Nainital’s village life.
So the journey to Bhimtal, Kainchi Dham, and Nainital went smoothly, with lots of sweet memories and experiences in its own way.

My Weekend trip to the Kumaon Region of Uttarakhand (Bhimtal & Nainital) was a memorable experience filled with the thrill of paragliding, a spiritual experience at Kainchi Dham, and Nainital exploration, all in a single trip.
It’s a perfect plan for those who are looking for a duality of adventure activities and spiritual visits with relaxed sightseeing in a limited time, offering exactly what you want to experience.
